Prepare to support office operations and patient care. Build skills to support doctors, nurses, and patients as a medical assistant with State Career College. Our program offers a blend of online and hands-on study — you'll practice clinical and office skills in our classrooms and complete a real-world externship, and you can complete this program in less than one year.

What You'll Learn
- Professional behavior, interpersonal skills, human behavior, medical law and ethics
- Taking vital signs, assisting with examinations, aseptic technique, administering medications, performing phlebotomy and EKGs
- Medical terminology, basic human anatomy and physiology
- Completing medical insurance forms, basic diagnostic and procedural coding, telephone techniques, scheduling, and daily office operations
Students also pursue Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
How It Works
Our Medical Assistant Program is designed to last 45 weeks — about 11 months. It's a hybrid program that combines online coursework with on-campus classes, plus a supervised externship in a real clinical setting.
