Phlebotomy Technician
The Phlebotomy Technician Program prepares students for entry-level employment in clinical and laboratory settings, including hospitals, clinics, physician offices, diagnostic labs, and blood donation centers.
Program Description
The program provides hands-on training in blood collection, specimen processing, infection control, and patient communication. Instruction includes 80 clock hours of classroom and laboratory training, plus a 40-hour supervised clinical externship, totaling 120 clock hours. Graduates are eligible to sit for a nationally recognized phlebotomy certification examination.
Program Objectives
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection safely and accurately
- Apply anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to phlebotomy
- Follow OSHA, HIPAA, CDC, and infection control protocols
- Demonstrate professionalism, communication, and patient-centered care
- Accurately label, process, and transport specimens per clinical standards

Admission Requirements
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Submit a completed Enrollment Application and participate in an admissions interview
- Provide proof of high school completion or equivalent (diploma/transcript, GED, or signed attestation)
Program-specific (before clinical externship):
- Immunization and Health Clearance (including TB clearance and Hepatitis B vaccination)
- BLS/CPR Certification
- Background Check (if required by the clinical site)
